This project was originally funded by the Australian goverment: Department of Industry Innovation and Science. A part of the Building Better Regions Fund - community investment stream the project was apart of the Christmas Island Public Art Program; Our streets are our museums. Which objective was to translate the stories of the island onto the urban facades to allow for simultaneous beautification and story-telling for visitors and tourists.
The deliverables to this commission was to deliver 7 murals and art installations on Christmas Island as an an 'outdoor museum art trail.’ the core output benefit will be the beautification of the British colonial era buildings and the 'archiving' of stories in outdoor spaces.
As one of the key activities a short documentary of the makings of the murals was intended to be produced for marketing and social presences online. helping to assist in messaging the island away from previous media stories into a more positive narrative.
